Antique embossed and gilded postcard with lucky four-leaf clover written by Miss Rose Lemieux from Asbestos Mine to Pitre Blec from Kingsey Falls in Quebec. What is interesting about the name Blec is that we can trace it to 1798 with a man called Jean-Baptiste Blec Black Blake dit L’Anglais (becoming later Langlois). The Blecs have both French and English lineage. The card has been stamped and mailed and has a hand-written message in French on the reverse side. The word Postcard is written in several language at the top and the card is marked Déposé and Ges. geschütz at the bottom, meaning that it is of French or German origin and was probably sent from abroad, which explains the precious stamp missing. The term geschütz is similar in meaning to the English terms patented or patent-pending, or to the French term depose. It is a card with a history.
Design of the year 1907 in gilded numerals with four-leaf clovers was easily understood by the recipient as a wish for good luck throughout the year.
